Learning Unlimited - Learning Resources Update

Hi all,

In response to the focus on online delivery, e-portfolios, online resources etc. in the business plan I felt it was necessary to update you on new developments and training opportunities.

Learning Unlimited VLE
A Virtual Learning Environment developed specifically for our learners and those of our partners has now become available to students and is found at the address: http://vle.learningunlimiteduk.com

The VLE is a platform for delivering information and resources to others, it can be used within teams, to deliver content to learners, to host web conference sessions with others, it is an incredibly useful resource! Already we have staff developing Functional Skills VLE courses, ALS, safeguarding, learner welfare and staff collaboration areas. The system has a module allowing us to run or own webinar/virtual classroom sessions as well, we have had great success so far in converting time-consuming partner meetings into online conferences! Remember that you can get on board with this technology, you just need the vision! (If you’ve been working on the VLE during  its development stage please note the change of address).

Network Account Access
Of course, to access the new LU VLE, the Chesterfield College VLE, the student Intranet and other resources learners will need to activate their Chesterfield College accounts. They can now do this from the college website under a new Activating your Account section within the Apprenticeships menu (as pictured below) This section also contains a list of links useful to any student! All students should be directed to this page so that they may access safeguarding, learner support, e&d courses, counselling services, online resources etc.

iSpace & Training
We know that adapting to new systems can be challenging, especially when time is a valuable commodity so I would like to encourage everyone to make use of the facilities available. The iSpace is an informal staff training room located at main site in S130. Drop-in sessions are scheduled regularly and people of all skill levels are encouraged to ask questions or discuss learning technology. A schedule of drop-sessions and events can be found here: http://vle.chesterfield.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=3183

Remember, the iSpace is always open for you to come and work with learning technology and help can be sought from staff during any of the drop-in sessions.

Formal training sessions on any of our learning resources can be arranged on request, contact me with details and I will liaise with Workforce Development to meet your requirements.

Kind regards
